I hiked the River Trail first thing in the morning and I was the only one there that I saw. This trail offers a lot of bang for your buck as it has waterfalls seemingly around every corner. The trail is an out and back of 1.5 miles round trip and follows the Falling Water River.

The trail begins right beside some 20 foot cascades which are beautiful. You also pass some seeps which join the river and get to cross under a rock overhang.

The falls continue in rapid succession which a 30 footer, an 80 footer, and climax with a 136 footer. There are stairs down to the last set of falls, some of which was washed out when I was there.

You can get to this state park pretty easily from I-40 heading east from Nashville, TN. It’s worth the time to stop and check it out. Enjoy! rk
