I wanted to advise our friendly readers that we may be posting a little less over the next 10-12 days. We are heading west today from Atlanta to Yellowstone National Park in search of adventure (and more blogging material!).
I really enjoy the big road trip. I feel like the “Great American Road Trip” is driving to see the National Parks out west. Every American should do this at least once in their life. I feel you gain more appreciation for how vast and beautiful our country really is.
I thought it would be interesting to share some of the itineraries from previous and this trip. Maybe this can inspire you to plan your own road trip!
The Original Big Road Trip: Atlanta – Cincinnati – Buffalo – Niagara Falls – Rochester NY – Ben & Jerry’s in Vermont – Princeton NJ – Washington DC – Atlanta. This trip gave me the confidence that I could drive these distances.
Big Road Trip #2: Atlanta – Santa Rosa NM – Albuquerque – Petrified Forest NP – Flagstaff – Grand Canyon NP – Phoenix – Las Cruces NM – San Antonio – New Orleans – Atlanta. This trip was done almost on a whim, planned two days before we left.
Big Road Trip #3: Atlanta – Grand Junction CO – Moab UT – Arches NP – Canyonlands NP – Capitol Reef NP – Zion NP – Bryce Canyon NP – Grand Canyon NP – Winslow AZ – Albuquerque – Oklahoma City – Atlanta. We had wanted to go to Yellowstone NP but we couldn’t get accommodations, Utah went from second choice to an all time favorite place.
Big Road Trip #4: Atlanta – Rock Springs WY – Grand Tetons NP – Yellowstone NP – Devils Tower – Mount Rushmore – Crazy Horse – Wind Cave NP – Badlands NP – Kansas City – Atlanta. Leaving shortly!
